LDS Philanthropies donations project

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints came to Official Payments with a big-time need. They had started taking online donations, but they felt their first implementation was not only too complex, but also extremely limited in scope and capabilities.

They wanted a solution that would do the following:

  1. provide an easy payment process
  2. expand the ways donors could pay
  3. let donors schedule and track their donations
  4. let donors choose any of the hundreds of philanthropic programs they offered

We came up with a design that helped both the church and the prospective donor.

Whether the users were coming from one of the church's humanitarian or missionary work pages, or if it was from one of the many areas from the church's flagship university (Brigham Young University) like arts & culture or athletics, the donor could be directed to a customized, branded landing page featuring the programs they would most likely be interested in.

And if the prospective donor didn't see something that caught their eye, they could easily search through all of the other programs the church and university supported.

Finally, we created a process to make payment even easier. If the donor only wanted to make a one-time donation, then there was no need to create an account. Just pay and they're done! But if the donor created an account, then they could keep track of all their donations, make recurring payments on a schedule of their choosing, and make changes to their donation at any time.

At the end, we wrapped it up with a nice, clean confirmation page. And if the donor saw something not quite right, they still had the option of going back and making any changes they needed by clicking on the tabs along the top.
